Kevin began working in the ice arena industry full time in the fall of 1989, when he served as Assistant Manager at the Bryan Trottier Skating Academy, and two years later at the Long Island Skating Academy in New York. Over the next 30 years, he held a variety of management and operations positions in NY metropolitan area ice arenas. His experience has included the operation and development of hockey programs and leagues, employee training programs, skating programs, mechanical maintenance and monitoring of refrigeration plants, operation of the ice resurfacer, budgeting, and customer service.
Until April of 2020, Kevin was the Vice President of Arena Operations for Floyd Hall Arena in Little Falls, New Jersey and Danbury Arena in Danbury, Connecticut, where he oversaw day-to-day and management functions of the two facilities. Throughout his career, he has developed a network of colleagues and professionals countrywide, who own and manage arenas of all types, as well as associates who have constructed arenas all over the world. He regularly attends and speaks at local and National conferences in Sports and Ice Arena Management.
In 2019, Kevin formed Emerald Sports Management to assist and advise new and existing recreational facility owners and operators about construction, customer service, employee training, and best operational practices for ice arenas and recreational facilities. His most recent projects include the annual construction of an outdoor NHL sized skating rink at Silo Ridge Field Club in Amenia, NY, consulting services to the Peconic Hockey Association for the construction of an ice arena in Riverhead, NY and management, training and operational services for Rockets Sports Group in Bridgewater, NJ.
While earning his B.S. degree in Biology at SUNY Brockport, Kevin worked at the Tuttle North Ice Arena, where he served as Shift Supervisor and Special Events Supervisor, and was the manager for all SUNY Brockport Division III hockey games during his last two years of college.
Kevin has served as the Vice President of the Metropolitan Ice Rink Managers’ Association (MIRMA) since 2001, and since 2004, has held active positions on the Board of Directors of the Ice-Skating Institute (ISI), where he currently serves as Treasurer. In 2007, Kevin was certified by the Ice Arena Institute of Management in the design, construction, and renovation of ice arenas, and in 2008 he received a Certificate of Arena Operations from the Ice Arena Institute of Management.
